Subsidy on Farm Pond: To deal with the groundwater crisis, many state governments are promoting micro irrigation. In many states, grants are also being given to farmers for installing drip, sprinkler and portable irrigation systems. Amidst the depleting ground water level, the state governments of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan are motivating farmers to make ponds in their fields. In its recently presented budget, the Rajasthan government has also increased the subsidy amount on the cost of construction of farm ponds, so that irrigation facilities can be made available to the farmers while reducing the cost of cultivation.

Till now the farmers of the state were being given a grant of Rs 90,000 for making farm ponds, but from this year, new applicants will be given an assistance of Rs 1 lakh 10,000.

Earning will also be done from barren land

Most of the land of Rajasthan is barren and sandy, the reason for which is the lack of water. To overcome this problem and to make the barren land cultivable again, efforts are being made to make farm ponds. Along with farm pond, farmers can also install solar plant or solar pump in their barren fields, which will generate income along with farming.

These farmers will get benefit

According to the terms and conditions of this scheme, any farmer can take advantage of subsidy on the construction of farm pond from minimum 400 cubic meter to maximum 1200 cubic meter.

  • Apart from this, it is mandatory for the farmer to have at least 0.3 hectares of land.
  • If the farmer’s field is densely populated or on the roadside, then get the pond constructed at a distance of 50 feet from such places.

  • At the place where the farmer wants to build a farm pond, he will have to apply online by getting geo tagging done there.
  • After receiving the application, verification will be done and the grant amount will be transferred to the bank account of the beneficiary farmer.
